About Sara Hernandez

Sara Hernandez was raised in Salinas California. She is a product of California’s public school system before heading to Duke University to receive a Bachelor in Arts in Public Policy. After college she joined Teach for America and taught for three years at Johnnie Cochran Middle School in Los Angeles. She received her Masters in Education from Loyola Marymount University and her Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School. She now works as a Regional Director of Policy and Advocacy at the California Charter Schools Association and runs an educational non-profit called HYPE, which helps low-income middle students get into and receive scholarships to attend elite independent high schools in the Los Angeles area.
